About Us

The "Stage on the Green" is a performance stage being constructed in the heart of Eastsound on the village green. It will compliment and enhance all the community events currently held on the Village Green; events like the Library Fair, the Bite of Orcas, Historical Days, Saturday Market, and the Concerts in the Park summer program. This new Eastsound venue will serve as a catalyst and focal point for many community gatherings which will celebrate the special nature of Orcas Island.

The "Stage on the Green", is being locally funded, has been locally designed, and is being built with locally sourced materials by local builders, artists and craftsmen.

The willingness of islanders to step up and participate in making this great stage happen has come in many forms. For example:

  • Donna Wuthnow, Director of San Juan Parks; and Orcas Parks Board members, Sandy Playa and Gil Blinn willingly leant their support to this grass-roots effort with public/private partnership.
  • Orcas Open Arts: a local non-profit organization who is our sponsor, stepped up to the plate with a tremendous amount of faith and goodwill.
  • Extensive Crane service by Drew Reed.
  • Boulders donated by Jeff Rodenberger at Crescent Services
  • Cedar trees donated by Bill Wulff
  • Donated labor of hundreds of hours. To name a few.
  • David Russillo - Engineer
  • David Kau - Architect
  • Chuck Greening Contractor/Project Manager
  • Fred Klein - Architect
